I have been fairly absent during this past week with all of the excitement of the wedding going on. Everything turned out beautifully and the smile on my daughter's face is worth all of the sleep deprivation of the last few days. There will be many more pictures coming about the fun things we did to make this event even more special and fun! My niece, Tara Fritz, is a professional photographer who came from Las Vegas to take her photos. I can't wait to see them and share them with you. Also, look at Lindsey's beautiful bouquet, Her sister, Alicia, made it for her. Our dear friend, Tracy Moore, did her hair (and all of our hair, and redid it before the reception! Plus, she and her daughter ME, did our nails!) We had so much help and support from friends and family, I can't even begin to list them all here, but they all added so much to the success of the day.
One of the ideas that we used to make the reception fun and a little interactive with the guests was our special sign in frame! You may have seen these on etsy. We did and decided we had to figure out how to make one for Lindsey and Austin's wedding reception. We call it The Filled With Love Frame. Here is how it turned out:
The way you use it is to have little hearts that guests sign their names on and then drop them into a little slot on the top of the frame.
If you want to see how we made it, click read more below.
I also wanted to make you aware of one of my affiliates who is having a great deal for the next two days!Oriental Trading is having a special of 2 days of free shipping on any order! They are a terrific resource for teachers and students for back to school items, or for any wedding or party you may be planning.

. Here is the promised Bridal Shower Post! I am sorry about blurry pictures and the lack of very many. Talking and entertaining guests kept me pretty busy, and we had a lot of fun!
The theme of our Bridal Shower was "Personal" so we assigned everyone a different time of day that their gifts could fit in with. Some examples of these are Bath Time, Relaxation Time, Gym Time, Dinner Time, Date Time, Movie Time, Work Time....you get the idea. Lindsey received so many creative and cute gifts! We also made the prizes and favors fit the personal theme. My daughter, Madalynn came up with some great ideas. We were lucky enough to find some great sales at Bath and Body works and the Yankee Candle Company and mixed those things with dollar store items to put together prizes we labeled "Snack Time", "Reflection Time" and "Bath Time". One of my favorite things that we did was the favors. We found the cute little wedding gown boxes atDollar Tree. Madalynn suggested that we make kissing kits to give away to fit our theme! What a great idea! So, here is what we did:
You can also get some personalized lip glosshere!
Alicia came up with a really cute name for the kissing kit, and an adorable gift tag to attach. We called them Pucker Packs! And guess what? She is going to help me attach them on here for you to copy!
Alicia here! Click below to download the Pucker Pack tags. Sorry they aren't all exactly the same. But they're pretty close! The tags are in color on the file, but we printed them in black and white for our purposes.
As our guests were leaving the shower, Madalynn would say, "Don't forget your Pucker Pack, for all of your kissing needs!" They loved it! I love how creative my girls are! Hope that you enjoy it too!
The wedding is tomorrow, so be sure to check out all of the fun things we will do for the reception! Updating and decorating a small 1960s tract home can be a challenge, especially on a limited budget. In a couple of my earlier posts, I have been showing you how we have been tackling this challenge in our own home. We are so over carpeting because when you tear it up, it is so dirty underneath, even though you feel like you have tried your hardest to be clean. Remember this photo of my son tearing up tack strips and then the ancient tiles below that? It was gross! We chose to only put carpet in the living room because that is where we do a lot of floor sitting during the holidays, so I wanted that to be really comfortable. But, now that the new carpet is in, no one goes in there with their shoes on. We decided that we wanted a solid surface throughout the rest of the house, but we didn't have a huge budget for tile to be laid or laminate installed and definitely not wooden floors. It needed to be an easy option for DIY-ers like us. We had done most of those other things in the past and we knew the hidden costs, and the time and effort involved. I wanted something that would look good, be durable and quick and easy to install to be ready for the upcoming wedding guests that will be coming into town.. And since it won't be too many years until retirement and a change of venue, so to speak, we don't want to pour a ton of money into our changes. So, of course Glen and I took a trip to Lowe's and this is what we found: It cuts super easily and my husband completed our hallway in just a few hours. I can hardly wait to see it throughout the rest of our home. (We are doing it in stages.) Here are some photos of the process. And for a little background about the prep work, we stripped the floors down to the cement and cleaned them really well. We leveled out any holes left behind from ripping out the carpet strips. We took off the baseboards to paint and replace later. We painted the hallway prior to laying the floor. Then, we coated the cement floor with a multi-purpose primer. Then, just follow the directions on the package of floor planks for laying out the planks, and VOILA! I am so happy with the end result. You can see we still have to do the doorways as we go into each bedroom. We also need to paint and reinstall the baseboards. See how nice it looks next to the new carpeting? I am so happy with it! Nice results for very little cost!
