This year, we have put in the largest garden we have ever done, all thanks to my goal to have something growing all year round and because of the garden workshop that I helped to put on. I am finding so much joy in watching the little plants that I grew from seeds turning into food producing plants! Not only that, some of the people who were able to take my little plants home and put them into their own gardens have been messaging me and sending me pictures of their plants, showing me how well they are growing. It is amazing! All of these little plants seem like little miracles!
My garden is flourishing and I thought that I would share with you some of the new tips that I've learned and some of the products that I've discovered that are helping me to be successful. (And also, maybe a few things that I wish I had!)

Since purchasing a Bread Machine, I have quickly become a convert of using the dough only setting. This allows me to mix up the bread dough from any recipe I can convert to fit into my machine, and then to shape the loaves or rolls however I would like. I've done buns, rolls, pizza dough and all sorts of things. For our recent St. Patrick's Day Dinner, I made delicious dinner rolls and since it was in honor of the Irish, I had to do potato rolls!

Then, he requested an ice cream cake! Not just any old ice cream cake, but a Mint Chocolate Chip Oreo Ice Cream Cake. Sounds delicious, right? But, how to frost it?
I decided that a whipped cream frosting would be best. I'd made stabilized whipped cream before using a little bit of gelatin and it had turned out just great! But, then he said that he wanted chocolate frosting, plus I knew that I wanted everything to freeze well and keep its shape when it was transported to the party. All I can say is "Thank you Duff Goldman!" because I was watching a cooking show that he was a judge on and I heard him tell a contestant that a Cream Cheese Stabilized Whipped Cream Frosting would have been the best frosting choice for their cake! I never had even heard of that, but I knew it would be the right choice for this cake! This post contains affiliate links. What better way to celebrate it than to learn more about amazing women in history, even recent history!
We used to have a series here on the blog called "What to Read Wednesday." That kind of went by the wayside, but we thought we would bring it back this week and suggest some great titles to read about women that you may or may not have heard of. Maybe you can learn about someone new! And don't forget to check out our Women's History Coloring Pages available in our Etsy Shop! |
