Have you ever heard of Baby Led Weaning? Before I had my little chicken nugget I had never heard of it. I always planned on starting her on pureed foods just like I had started, and basically everyone I have ever known who has ever had a baby has done. Well, then at her four month appointment her doctor told me I could start her on solids and I bought some veggies and pureed them and we got started and... well... it was just a lot of work. Until very recently she was really only into eating one meal a day and I didn't have the energy to keep pureeing different things. I have purchased baby food from time to time, but it can be, and IS, so expensive! So, I started researching Baby Led Weaning (BLW) and now that my little miss is six months old we are implementing it and I have to say, it is SO much messier than purees, but so much easier to feed her! Enter these muffins. ABC Baby Led Weaning Muffins I call them. the ABC in these muffins stands for Apple Banana Carrot. Those are the main ingredients in these BLW muffins. They make them light and sweet. The texture is perfect for a little one just learning to eat, who may not have teeth yet! We have FINALLY been getting rain here, which is wonderful! The only drawback is that the storms keep happening right during this little lady's swimming lessons. I got her all dressed to go when her swim instructor (who happens to be someone I had previously baby sat when he was in diapers) called to say that lessons were once again cancelled because of the rain. Well, we didn't feel like changing yet, so we made these ABC BLW muffins in our swimsuit. You are not required to do the same, but, it could be fun if you tried! As I am doing more research and coming up with more BLW recipes and ideas I'll be posting them where our subscribers can access them! So if you aren't subscribed yet make sure you sign up! We just put up our 2nd episode of our podcast! This is a new pursuit that we are having so much fun with! If you haven't given the podcast a listen yet, please do and let us know what you think! As you can tell from the name, Cover to Reel, our podcast deals with books that have been made into movies. So far, we have covered Jurassic Park and The Wizard of OZ. In honor of the launch of our podcast, we decided to use Friday Faves today to showcase some of our favorite books to movies and to give you a preview of some of the books we hope to cover in the future.
Harry Potter, all book volumes and all movies: We all love this series! We hope to cover each book and accompanying movie(s) one by one.
The Lord of the Rings, all book volumes (that set includes The Hobbit) and all movies: I love the books and the movies! You can tell that we really love fantasy by these first two choices. And of course, there is Legolas. Enough said! The Hobbit, the book and all 3 movies: I read this book in grade school and have reread it many times. It is no surprise to me that they took 3 movies to tell the entire story! Narnia, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe: Read the entire Chronicles, but I would focus on The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe when it comes to the movies. A Wrinkle in Time, the movie is fairly new, finally after reading the book in elementary school! The Hunger Games, this one is going to be a fun discussion because the books and the movies were so excellent! To Kill a Mockingbird: The movie is such a classic so well acted by Gregory Peck. The book is rich and wonderful with a beautiful back story of the author's. Last but not least, Shrek: Lindsey and Alicia just recorded this one for the podcast. The book is a simple child's book, but the movies takes it so much farther! Stay tuned for the podcast about this book/movie combo!
So, those are our faves for this Friday! Hopefully they will help you find some entertainment for the weekend. Read a book and then watch the movie so you can join in the conversation withCover To Reel!

I have done it everyone. I have done it, for you! As you may recall, breastfeeding has not been a walk in the park for me. It has been a battle, and I am now a warrior. Of all my research on what to do to increase breast milk production I have come across and great number of lactation cookie recipes. Lactation cookies are great, who doesn't want a good excuse to eat a cookie every day? I wanted to change it up a little bit, and I had some overripe bananas. Thus it was that my idea for lactation banana bread was born.
I love banana bread. Remember when I shared this gluten free banana bread recipe with you before?I buy bananas because I know I will be bad at eating them and I will end up getting to make banana bread with it! So it was only logical that I would eventually want to make a lactation banana bread recipe full of galactogogues to help milk supply. The way I made this lactation banana bread is even more fun because: 1. They are mini loaves 2. They have chocolate chips in them Let me tell you something. When you are breastfeeding your body gets drained of nutrients. You have to work hard to eat healthy and drink lots and lots of water (PH is sometimes shocked at how I can chug water now. I have long been a good water drinker, but I really cannot get enough.) We are working hard to supply our sweet babes with healthy sustenance while they are growing so quickly and are so dependent on us. We get to eat chocolate chips. We get to eat mini loaves of banana bread. So go at it mama. I made this mini lactation banana bread loaves and cut them in half so I could eat one half per day. It is a fun flavor and texture change from cookies. There is also a little less sugar and if you REALLY don't want the chocolate chips it is even less. There is also less butter than any cookie recipe I use calls for. So hey, you are not indulging, but enjoying a lactation banana bread that helps you feed your baby and is still healthier for you, but tastes SO GOOD! I am pleased, and you will be too! For this recipe you'll want a mini loaf pan! Check out these great options below!

Alicia here with my last Italian recipe for you all. I'm kind of sad Italy is over because I love the food so much. But I have had a good time making these foods and sharing the recipes with you. I am a bit bummed I didn't get to make pizza, but I probably still will and share it with you. My Basil plant is begging for it.
But for today I have a seriously good recipe, especially if you like a little heat. Amatriciana can poorly be described as spicy spaghetti, but it's much more. Wow your friends and family with this delicious dish. Amatriciana
Amatriciana is a sauce with cured pork (like pancetta), pecorino, tomatoes, onions, and peppers. Not bell peppers but chili and black pepper.
This sauce has more depth than your regular marinara because of the addition of the pork and more bite because of the pepper. But the flavors marry so well together, each bite is divine. Slightly creamy because of the addition of cheese, the sauce sticks well to the noodles. Most recipes I found used bucatini, but spaghetti can be substituted. My brother hates bucatini because it is not easy to slurp (it is hollow in the center, like a really long macaroni noodle). I admit that I didn't have Pecorino, so I used my fresh Parmesan. Sorry Italy. I also didn't have pancetta so I used unsmoked bacon (it is the same cut of meat). But despite all these substitutions, it was still very delicious. My son and husband loved it! I did too! And I thought it was even better the next day as left-overs. (I think it's important to know what makes good leftovers.)
Try this delicious recipe out please. It's a great alternative to your boring old spaghetti and marinara (which I actually also love). Oh and the spice is barely there, it will not cause you to breath flames. It's not more spicy than a breakfast sausage. So don't let that deter you from trying it out!
