Here in Phoenix, we have this cool place called the AZ Worm Farm. They raise worms and they have gardens using the worm castings. They sell for a really good price compost and mulch and worm castings and worms and plants and basically it is a gardeners heaven. The Worm Farm also offers classes and recently, Anita and I have taken a couple of them. The one I'm going to tell you about today is the Refrigerator Dill Pickle Class! I've made pickles before, but I was really interested in finding out how they did it at the worm farm and if I could get a new brine recipe. I was not disappointed!

You may wonder how I came up with the idea to make a Chicken Pot Pie in an owl shape and I can understand your confusion. My first thought was to make individual pot pies in a pumpkin or acorn mold, which I will still do, but as I thought about my pumpkin and acorn molds, I remembered my owl mold and I thought to myself, "you can make one large pie in an owl shape!" I mean, I don't have a chicken shaped mold and for some reason, an owl seems very fall to me! So, I did that first just to see if I could make it work. Guess what! It worked!

Yesterday, we reshared our Thanksgiving 101 Timeline. It is getting to be that time of year! I love crafting things for the holidays and so my mind began to work on what I could do for the Thanksgiving table this year. I came up with copper wire napkin rings and stemware charms using beads, charms and of all things Shrinky Dinks! I had some Shrinky Dink Supplies left over from this post, so I decided to use it! They came out pretty cute, so I thought I'd share them with you and see what you think!

If you know me, you know that my favorite candies are See's Candies. They are a family favorite, inherited from my mother. In a side by side comparison, I can pick out a See's Chocolate every time as the best tasting, textured and most delicious of any chocolate that I've ever had, (and I've had a lot of chocolates!) I once wrote a poem about their Bordeaux chocolate that won $50 in a See's sponsored contest! I got so excited about it that my son thought I had won a house!
I digress... While I adore their chocolate, there is one tidbit that See's makes that I always have to get one or two of when I visit their store. And that is the Scotch Kiss! Soft, marshmallowy goodness wrapped in caramel. I have often thought that it probably wouldn't be that hard to make on my own. I finally decided to give these little treats a try! |
