We really appreciate the views we have been receiving on our YouTube channel as we have kicked off our Budget Pantry Project! Making sure the recipes are all available for you is keeping me on my toes this week! If the video goes to fast for you to write it down, you can pause it of course, but I thought that I would put them up here in a pdf format so that you can click on them and simply print them out! First, Meatballs over Noodles. I made Homemade Noodles, but you can use any pasta that you have. Most of the recipes for homemade noodles are about the same, so you can find them anywhere. The main lesson here is learning to make a white sauce, or Bechamel Sauce. It is such an important skill because it can be used in so many ways. Alfredo sauce, gravy, chowders, the list goes on. This dish uses the $4.00 meatballs that I got at Dollar Tree, butter, milk, flour for the sauce and noodles. If you make homemade noodles, you will need eggs. Here is the link to the video! Here is the recipe! The video going up today is about two simple recipe that are easy, delicious and money savers! Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup, which you should already know how to make. And one of my favorites, Fish Tacos! I bought the Campbell's Tomato Soup in cans containing 30% more soup at Dollar Tree for $1.25. The cheese I got from my regular store for $2 per package! In that meal you will need butter and mayo. I know mayo wasn't on the list, so if you don't have it, it is okay, but since my shopping list had a $12 cushion, you could pick up a jar. It will be used again later with the tuna for lunches and in the Pasta Salad! I discovered that after purchasing the 18 stick package of fish sticks from Dollar Tree for $5, I could have gotten them at the grocery store with 44 in the package and they were B1G1 free, that was 88 fish sticks for about $7.50. That was a much better deal, allowed people to have more tacos and left me with leftover fish sticks for another meal! The recipe I'm giving is for the salsa to put on the tacos. There is enough salsa for about 6 tacos, so if you make more, you will need to double it. The produce and limes came from my regular store, as explained in the video. The next video that will be going up will be the Skillet Sausage Pasta. It should go live tomorrow. I had picked up some Knorr Pasta packets at Dollar Tree, which I have later discovered for a better price in the regular grocery store. They routinely go on sale for .99. They are very tasty and I used them in the skillet meal with the John Morrell Sausage that is only 1.25 at Dollar Tree, a great buy! These recipes are a little different than others that we post here on the blog because I'm writing them with low budgets in mind. You will need to add seasonings as you have them. I give suggestions for those in just in case you do have some of those extras in your pantry. All of these meals are tasty, filling and won't make you feel like you are eating on a budget! Let me know if you are giving any of them a try!
Remember that any left-over onion or other produce will be use in other recipes as we go along. So, don't throw them our, wrap them up and keep them in your fridge until we are ready to use them again in a day or two!
