Whoot! We've made it to Friday Faves #50! And, since Thursday the first of February was National Candy Making Day, what a great way to celebrate our faves! Do you enjoy making homemade candies? We've shared a few of our favorite candy recipes in the past, but we will also be sharing a new favorite this week as well. These homemade candy choices will be perfect this time of year as it gets closer to Valentine's Day! You could even make your own little candy box for that special someone.
What are your favorite homemade candies?
You are going to notice that there is a theme among us here at 3 Winks. Chocolate! I thought about giving a Divinity recipe, but let's get real. It really is all about the chocolate.
But, Maddy, with her usually healthy vegan ways said, "Nope! If I am going for dipped chocolate, it is going to be the delicious fondant centers you make, Mom." (She didn't really say that, but I am sure that is what she was thinking as she picked these dipped chocolates.) If you click the picture, it will take you to the Spring version of these delectable treats.
And Now, on to our newest recipe...
Butterscotch Not-So-Squares! These are an attempt at a copy cat of the delicious See's Candy recipe that is so wonderful. I found different recipes for this candy on Pinterest, but adapted it to my own taste. It is pretty darn good, but my family thinks it is closer to a toffee taste rather than the Butterscotch Square taste. But, they gobbled it down and found it to be good, so I will call it a success anyway!
All of these recipes are super easy to make and would be perfect to share! Do you have candy recipes you love to make? Be sure to let us know about them!

Hello Friday Faves Fans! We have hit Friday Fave #44! Did you know that tomorrow is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day? What a great day! Of course, we are celebrating this day by beginning with this question:
What is your favorite thing to dip in chocolate?
The first thing I thought of was, "My finger!" Then I asked my husband and he said, "Well, I don't know, my finger?" Great minds think alike.
My girls were much more creative right off the bat. The first thing Maddy said was pretzels. I had to agree right away! That chocolate sweet taste mixed with the salty pretzel is just so good. This time of year, you've got to add the sprinkles, and maybe a layer or caramel under the chocolate? Just a thought.
Alicia also said that she loves chocolate dipped pretzels and then said she loves candies like Mounds that are coconut dipped in chocolate! Alicia is also the one who dipped Oreos in chocolate for us. Those are super good! Who can forget her 2 year old's Halloween reindeer? It is a delicious blend of pretzel and Oreo! What could be better?
Lindsey loves fruit dipped in chocolate. I am also a fan of a big chocolate dipped strawberry. And don't forget the banana peanut butter dipped chocolates I blogged about on this post.
Speaking of peanut butter, Ritz Crackers spread with peanut butter and then dipped in chocolate are so good as well.
I guess we are giving you a couple more than 5 ideas because I can't talk about dipping chocolates with mentioning my family's favorite dipped chocolates that I make on occasion. I am going to repost the recipe below. You can read about how I used them on Easter here.
I know that a lot of people like to just melt their chocolate in the microwave, but I always use a double boiler. I don't have to worry about having to remelt as it cools because I can keep it over the warm water and it stays perfectly creamy. My old set of cookware came with a double boiler, but my new set didn't. I kept my old one. I really like it because it also has a steamer option which is really nice for vegetables. If you don't have one, they are a super great tool to have in the kitchen. There are a few choices available on Amazon. You could get one in time to dip chocolates for the holidays!
Here is a double boiler and steamer set for a great price!
So, What do you love to dip in chocolate? Have fun deciding and let us know!

Thank you for your support. You've got Valentine's Day covered, right? Flowers, chocolates...but wait! You suddenly find out that your Valentine doesn't like chocolate! It is true, there are people out there who do not like, are allergic to, or do not eat chocolate for one reason or another.
This tragedy is what leads us to this week's Friday Fave question: "What is your favorite non-chocolate candy?". You may think that you are going to be reading about the usual Skittles and Starburst. No, we are much deeper than that. You are going to want to try our choices! When I posed this question this week, Alicia said that she thought she would come up with some Valentines to go with each choice! She is so creative! So, today we are offering 5 free printable Valentines to go with these 5 candy choices. Now you will be all set! If you really want to be an amazing Valentine, You could make a poster that has all of the Valentines with all of the candy selections! Your Valentine will be so impressed! A few weeks ago, my daughter did a guest post for me about peanut butter powder. It was a thought provoking post for me and I have come up with a lot of ideas where this product could really be useful. The other day, I was at our local Fry's grocery store where I found Jiff Peanut Butter Powder! I decided to give it a try because it is 85% less fat and full of protein! It is also very accessible for the regular home shopper. Back when I was in college, my friend and roommate, Debbie VanWagenen, gave me a recipe for peanut butter cups. I have made it many times for my kids over the years, especially during the summer when I don't want to bake. They are delicious, but also full of fat! They have a cup of butter and all of that peanut butter and not to mention the chocolate chips melted on top. So, I decided it would be great to make them with a lot less fat and maybe we wouldn't have to feel quite so guilty about eating them as an occasional treat. For some reason, I couldn't find Debbie's recipe in my stash! But, here is what seems like a similar one, only I added reconstituted Peanut Butter Powder instead of the regular peanut butter.
While I realize the butter and the chocolate keep these bars from being really low in fat, the peanut butter powder does save on a lot of the fat calories. The flavor met with my families approval! I can hardly wait far the weather to get cooler so I can bake again and use this product in a lot of other applications I have up my sleeve! In the meantime, enjoy these no-bake tidbits!
