If you know me at all, you know that Christmas just isn't Christmas unless I craft something to give each year. Ornaments are a quick and easy go to and I love to create them because they are like a second gift to add to a package, or they make a quick little gift for a friend. When I spotted these Sesame Street Figures at Dollar Tree a while ago, I knew that they would make great Christmas Ornaments for 3 little granddaughters that I know and love!
Here is how I made these ornaments one at a time. Most of the supplies, I had on hand. A lot of them were probably purchased at Dollar Tree! For all of the ornaments, you will need a glue gun and glue.
Elmo
Elmo is such a popular character. Since he loves music, I decided that he would love a bell! I think my little Amelia will love him on her package this year!
For Elmo you will need:
Cookie Monster
We all love Cookie Monster! We have a stuffed toy Cookie Monster that talks that we have had since Madalynn was a baby! Emily has played with him at my house quite a bit, so I know she will love receiving this ornament. Of course, Cookie Monster must have a Christmas cookie!
You will need:
Grover
We all think that Grover is pretty funny and special. We feel like he should get more attention on Sesame Street! Who doesn't love his famous book, The Monster at the End of This Book? If you don't have it, it would make a great gift this Christmas! Alicia is really going to appreciate Sofia receiving this ornament featuring Grover bringing the Christmas Tree!
Here is what you will need:
I may have to get more of these figures. I kind of think Oscar would be really fun to make look festive. What would you do to jazz him up?
If you enjoyed these ornaments, you may love the following!
Don't forget that we are celebrating Christmas by doing Blogmas, or in other words we are posting new Christmas themed posts everyday (except for 2) until Christmas! Don't miss these that have already happened:

I don't know if you are like me, but when I see those cute fun foam or felt kits that the craft stores have for kids to do, I just want to buy them all and make them with my grandkids. But then, I end up with a bunch of little cute ornaments or just plain figures that I don't really know what to do with besides sit them on my shelves or hang on the tree. So, when Emily brought me this cute owl with her hand prints as the wings, I thought to myself that there must be better ways to use them and enjoy the memories that come with creating them together. So, I brainstormed and created with some of my grandkids and we came up with a few ideas that we hope you will love! Place Cards and Napkin Rings:
Garlands:
Gifts: Of course the children can give just the craft all by itself as an ornament or a refrigerator magnet. But here are a few of other ideas to expand their choices.
Make a Wreath! While I was looking at different craft kits at Hobby Lobby, I found a white garland of pom poms. (They have lots of choices.) I thought, what a great idea to make a wreath with this and the felt Santa kits that I have! It came out so cute! Here is what I did:
My grandkids are going to love it!
There are so many different kits to choose from, you can make any theme. A Nativity Wreath would be a great way to talk about the true meaning of Christmas as you craft it together. Can you think of other ways to use these festive craft kits? Let me know in the comments!

Maddy and I took a research trip to Disneyland and wrote this post of the top 10 tips if you're going on a trip to Disneyland. Maddy has been back multiple times and has told me about the even better access to things because of the app and the Max Pass and more. Well, we are leaving this weekend on our Family Reunion trip to Disneyland, so we will be updating this post soon, as well as sharing great ways to enjoy your family reunion at Disneyland. This tips on this post are still pertinent and we will be using them, but we will be sharing many more ideas in the near future! We are all so excited! There will be 22 of us and for some of them it will be their first trip to The Park. Plus, we have 4 February birthdays, so you know what that means...BUTTONS! I have never been to Disneyland in February, so I am anxious to see what the crowds will be like. They are supposed to be better, but with the new Star Wars attractions, who knows? Well, we will find out and let you know! In the meantime, if you are planning a trip, review these tips! (PS-Prices may have changed over the past 2 years.)
You may be thinking that the 5 day trip to Disneyland that Maddy and I took was just for fun and frivolity. Well, maybe it was, but we also did research! We found ways to save money, ways to get the most out of the Disney experience and to get to go on the most attractions without killing yourself doing it! You may have read all kinds of Disney tips out there, but here we are going to present some ideas you may not have heard before.
This was not our first Disneyland trip by any means. I was born and raised in California and thanks to my big sisters, I was able to go to Disneyland quite often as a kid. I remember the "E" ticket days and the no California Adventure days. That big building next to Autopia that houses Star Wars Characters and activities, used to be The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow attraction. I also remember when The Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean and A Small World were brand new. I have loved going to Disneyland over the years and it was important to me to get to share it with my kids, even though for many years we couldn't afford to go very often. Now, I am looking forward to going with my grandchildren. We are planning a family reunion to Disneyland in 2 years from now, when my youngest son returns home from his mission. The tips that Maddy and I are giving you today are definitely ones that we will be incorporating into our plans for that event!
Before You Go:
You can find Disney merchandise everywhere. When kids ask you for the souvenirs that they see others with in the park, just pull out something from your stash for them. One of the smart things that we saw parents do was to have little items to give kids while they were waiting in line. For example, Dollar Tree has little plastic figures of Disney characters. You could give them the ones that match the ride you are going on to get them excited instead of bored with waiting! If you look on the Dollar Tree website, there are 7 pages of Disney themed products to choose from! If you are going on a family reunion like we are with at least 10 grandchildren, buying in bulk is the way to go! Trust me, none of the little toys and items like these in the park cost only $1.00! If you really want a souvenir from within the park, make it something that you can't really find outside of the park. A very inexpensive idea for everyone is to start a collection of the pressed coins you can get from machines all over the park. You can even purchase a reasonable album to keep them in! Here is an example of the one you can find in the park on Amazon, but in this case, it is actually more reasonable to purchase it in the park!
When you are there:
We hope that these tips will help you on your next Disney vacation! Next week, Maddy will be giving that ear making tutorial and she also plans to give you a rundown on what we learned about plant based dining in the Disney parks. I am going to share my copycat poutine recipe with you soon! You won't want to miss a thing! Some of you have been following our Instagram posts while we were away and said that you really wanted that Ear Tutorial, so it is high on our list! Thanks for the feedback!

With Labor Day Weekend upon us, it is the perfect time to break out the Fall decorations and perhaps add a few new items to the mix. I love getting into the chest where my Fall items are stored and finding things I didn't remember that I owned! But, I also love going into the stores and seeing new ideas and getting inspiration there. Maddy and I went on a little Fall shopping spree and we came back with some great stuff that is pretty inexpensive! First of all, look at the adorable Thankful Chalk board that Maddy decorated. We found the plaque at Michael's for about $2.50. Maddy had a great idea to turn it into a chalkboard that family members can write things that they are thankful for everyday or every week throughout the season, whatever your pleasure. Of course, I already owned the chalkboard paint. I painted the base coat and did a thin wash of brown acrylic paint around the frame. Then I was nervous about writing "thankful," so I made Maddy do it! Ha ha! Look how cute it came out! She always thinks of the cute details like the little leaves and dots. She did it all with one chalk marker! Free hand! I would have written thankful and left it at that! Here are a few close-ups: Michael's had a lot of their Fall decor on sale for 40% off or more. This weekend would be a great time to check it out before it is all gone! Another great place we found to shop was at Dollar Tree! We found so many things to craft with and decorate with that we can't wait to show you some of our creations in up coming posts! In the meantime, here are some of the things you are going to love! (But I'm not going to tell you all of our secrets yet! Use your imagination and see what you come up with!)
My goodness you guys! There is so much fun stuff that I can't even list it all! You have to click the links and see for yourself! Just remember, at Dollar Tree, you have to shop fast because everything goes fast! Especially if you want stuff for Halloween! Decorating for the seasons and holidays is so much fun to do with kids because they get so excited. I was glad that my daughter and my granddaughter have been here to help at my house! (Even though my granddaughter is not quite 2, she sure gets excited about the stuff!) So, have a FUN Labor Day weekend and get in the Fall mood! If you are still have high heat and humidity like we are, it may even help you feel a little cooler! Click on our Halloween category to see past ideas!
