My friend, Vayna, taught me about this fun way to enjoy cake when you don't want a whole cake in your house, but you are craving a bit of cake for dessert. I blogged about it after Christmas on this post This idea is perfect for empty nesters who can't eat a whole cake by themselves, or single people who also might crave a bit of cake but don't want the entire 13 x 9 sheet cake hanging around for days! Last Christmas, I gave away chocolate versions of this mix in jars as gifts and everyone loved them and asked me how to make the mix for themselves! Recently, I was running out of the chocolate mix and needed to make another batch for my husband and myself, so it was the perfect time to take some pictures and remind you all about it this great way to have cake without having to eat it for a week! This time, I decided to make a different flavor! Click Read More and Check it out! I had a Strawberry Cake Mix in the house, and some mini chocolate chips. All I had to do was buy an Angel Food Cake Mix and I was ready to go! When you are making this basic mix, all you need are two cake mixes, one of them must be an Angel Food Mix and the other can be whatever flavor you would like. As you probably know, Angel Food cake is made of mostly egg whites, so those powdered egg whites in the mix are what make your mug cake light and fluffy! You take these two mixes, dump them into a big bowl together and whisk them together very well. This time, I added mini chocolate chips to the mix. Then, my mix was finished and all I had to do was put it into an air-tight container to store it. I used a Tupperware container and used a sticker or label to write the brief directions of how to make the mug cake. It is so easy! Here is the basic recipe: Do you see where the 3-2-1 comes in? 3 Tbsp mix, 2 Tbsp water, mix well, 1 minute in the microwave. You can also put in personal add-ins right into the mug. Here is how our Strawberry version came out! DELICIOUS! You can top your cake with fruit, ice cream or many other things! I had made and canned this strawberry syrup awhile ago, this was a great use for it! When I gave this mix as gifts, I cut the mix in half and filled quart sized mason jars with it, tied on a spoon and added labels about how to make the mug cakes. It was inexpensive, simple, cute and useful! We are into the "ber" months, so Christmas is just around the corner, just thought I'd give you an easy idea!
