friendship bracelet
A few months ago, my granddaughter told me all about the eye color bracelet trend.  (My grandchildren tend to try to keep me up to date with what is popular on TikTok.)  We tried it out and created a post about it here.  That post turned out to be one of our more popular posts in 2024.  So, when Jayda told me about this friendship bracelet trend that she has been seeing, of course we had to give it a try as well!
Apparently, Taylor Swift sang about friendship bracelets.  Then, people began exchanging them at her concerts, which made her very happy.  Now, Taylor Swift friendship bracelets are a thing!
Then, the next thing that has happened is the idea that Jayda and I are going to tell you about right now!  Taking friendship bracelets a step further, this idea has friends picking out beads for their besties that say something about the person, such as a personality trait, or something they love that only a friend might know, or favorite colors...you get the idea.  Then, they exchange the bracelets as a token of their friendship.  Kind of a sweet thing.
Of course, Jayda and I had to give it a try!  She picked out beads for me and I picked some out for her.  We also picked one set of beads together that represented something between the two of us.

This is the bracelet that Jayda made for me. The little gold spacer beads are smiling faces, which I hope means that she sees me as a happy person!

I made this bracelet for Jayda. I included all of her favorite colors because she is a vibrant person, plus a couple of charms, like the elephant because she loves them and the little leaf just because I thought she would like it.

You will notice that both of the bracelets have the bead that says hope. We picked that out together because that word is a reminder of a story that the two of us shared together.
The bracelets were fun and easy to make!  I happened to have this set of beads to add to the ones we had purchased.  They are such a good buy on Amazon with an extra 25% off coupon right now!

As a matter of fact, there are so many great beads in this set, I got to thinking that making these Picker's Trend Bracelets would be a great idea to do at a party of almost any age of girls.  Here is how it could work:
  • Have all of the bracelet making supplies ready, such as the set above and any other beads to add variety.  Also, extra scissors and tweezers would probably come in handy.
  • Have the girls at the party draw names of one of the other girl's at the party!  This will work best if they all know each other fairly well.
  • Without revealing who they are making their bracelet for, the girls can make their bracelets.  Well, I think this will work, except measuring wrist size may be an issue.  So, if there are a lot of various sizes of wrists at the party, maybe the names could be revealed at the beginning so that the elastic thread could be custom fit to the receiver's wrist.  However you do it, there should be no suggesting on the part of the receiver or the other girls about what to put on the bracelet.  I feel like this is a great exercise for the girls to really think about another person besides themselves and to make that other person feel special.  (Perhaps explain this idea to the girls as you begin.) So, what the bracelet maker puts on the bracelet she is making should come from the heart!
  • Then, the girls can have fun making the bracelets and finally revealing who they are for and why they made them the way they did.  Everyone gets a new bracelet and a boost of confidence and love at the same time!
Actually, I think this would be a great idea for a cousins party!  I may give it a try the next time I have all of my granddaughters together!
So, whether you are a Taylor Swift fan or not, these Friendship Picker Trend Bracelets will be greatly appreciated and a lot of fun to make!  I know that I am going to cherish mine from Jayda! ♥
