It's no secret that here at 3 Winks Design, we love pie! If you don't believe me, check out our For the Love of Pie Book. You could also check out all of these pie posts we have done, such as this Strawberry Rhubarb Pie that I made for the Fourth of July a few years ago, or this Blueberry Slab Pie I made for Alicia's son's baptism a few years ago. Well, I've decided to bring you a pie recipe that combines a pie for dessert for the fourth of July, and is also a slab pie, which can feed a crowd really well! This past Sunday at church we had a potluck luncheon after our meetings. I was assigned to bring a dessert and so I made this delicious Strawberry Slab pie. It was so easy to make, and tasty! There were a million desserts at the luncheon, so we still brought plenty home to enjoy. Last year my mom canned strawberry pie filling and I used that to make this pie, but since my mom has decided never to can strawberry pie filling again, I'll give you my recipe for strawberry pie filling. I just used my cookie cutters to cut the crust into the star shapes. I love doing that for the fourth of July, as you can see from my strawberry rhubarb pie post. I think it just adds something fun and festive for the holiday. However, when you make this strawberry slab pie you can do a lattice crust, roll out a whole top crust and lay it on top of the fruit and bottom crust, or do your own shapes! I also always feel like strawberry is a perfect choice for a fourth of July slab pie because of the nice red color, very patriotic. Our blueberry slab pie would also be perfect. Or, make both pies and have red and blue slab pies to choose from! Want other ideas for Fourth of July recipes? Check out these options! Happy fourth of July everyone! Now I'm off to get a little more strawberry slab pie!
