Thank you for your support. Disaster happened this past week! In the midst of making this ice cream, my ice cream making bowl started leaking the freezing fluid out of a crack that was suddenly on the side of the bowl! There may have been tears at the loss of my beloved ice cream bowl! But, Amazon came to the rescue and I was able to get free same day delivery on a new bowl! Whew! What a relief. I decided to go with the knock off brand Ice Cream Attachment for my Kitchen Aid this time because it was so much less expensive. This one was on sale, plus had an additional percentage off coupon, so it was a great deal! If you prefer the Brand name of Kitchen Aid, it is also on sale right now, but just not as low as the one I bought this time. We will see how it goes! I just knew that with summer coming and temperatures soaring here in Phoenix that my Ice Cream attachment would get a lot of use, so I had to replace it ASAP! Now, let's get back to this delicious Chocolate Banana Ice Cream! Since by grandson eats sugar-free, this was a great choice for him. I sweetened it with honey, but you don't need a ton because the banana also adds great sweetness to this recipe. This is the perfect recipe for a banana getting a little too ripe. I only used one banana in this recipe, but you could add another if you would like it to have a little more banana flavor. Unlike other ice creams I've shared, (here & here), I added the banana, honey and cocoa to the ice cream mix from the beginning rather than stirring in the extras at the end. So, this makes a smooth, creamy mixture that is so good. But, it is important to mix the cocoa and the mashed banana together before blending it with the other ingredients. This will result in the smooth result I was going for.
We had a family gathering the other night where we served a couple of kinds of ice cream, and this Chocolate Banana was hands down the favorite flavor. Just a few ice cream making reminders if you are using the Kitchen Aid Ice Cream attachment:
Other than those few things, this is such a simple way to make delicious homemade ice cream! I sometimes pack it into these little pint cartons to give it away to family and friends. In the summer, it is a good change of pace to share a cold treat instead of a plate of cookies! You can find various colors and prints. Look at these! More Ice Cream Posts:
