My mom has blooged about po'e before. She gave you a delicious banana po'e recipe here. Well, I grew up with po'e thanks to my dad serving a mission in Tahiti, so I have always known about it and loved it. When I went on a mission to France there were many Tahitians also serving there. In one of the first places I served (Montpellier) there was another missionary serving there and he was from Tahiti. I told him I wanted a good po'e recipe so I could make it. A few months later I saw him at a conference and he handed me a recipe for baked po'e. You can make this recipe with many kinds of fruit. Banana, papaya. Whatever fills your heart with joy. I have been on a mango kick lately, and the last time I went to Costco I bought 6 mangoes, and the first thing I wanted to do was make po'e and top it with coconut cream. Although you can use which ever fruit you'd like, I'd highly recommend the mangoes. Mango is so good, and the perfect amount of sweet. Mango Po'e is probably my favorite. My mom's po'e was made on the stovetop. But as this baked mango po'e recipe implies, you bake it in the oven! For the coconut cream in this recipe just buy a can of cream and don't mix it. Take the cream right off the top when you open the can. It is light, creamy, and heavenly. So, now you know how to make po'e two different ways! Bake it in the oven, or make it on the stove top!Which way are you going to make it today??

Happy Friday! Today for Friday Faves I thought I would share my favorite perks of Amazon Prime, that even my friends who already have Prime aren't usually aware are available to them.
Everyone knows about the 2 day free shipping. Which has been so handy to me on many occasions. For example our air purifier needs a new filter. I can't find these anywhere in stores around me. I don't like to be without the filter because my house will need dusting multiple times a day (I'm not even joking, it's crazy dusty here). So I hop on Amazon and can have them here in a jiffy!
But there's so much more to having Amazon Prime that I really love. Take a look and see if you knew about these awesome perks!
The Perks of Amazon PrimeAmazon Music
You may have heard of Prime Unlimited Music, a subscription service similar to Apple Music, where you can listen to whatever music you want basically. But you don't have to subscribe to this service to take advantage of the music on Amazon. Just by being a prime member you have access to over 2 MILLION songs. They have playlists for different occasions, and even stations you can listen to (similar to Pandora). It's a great way to discover new artists too!
Kindle First Reads
This is one of my favorite perks that I wasn't aware existed until a few months ago. Every month editors at Amazon choose 5 books that are going to be released soon (from different genres). As a Prime member you get to choose one of these books to be delivered to your kindle (or kindle app) for FREE! As well if you want more than one of the books offered, you can pre-order the kindle version for $4.99 or the hardcover version for $9.99! The extra books will be delivered to you when they are released to the public. It's a great deal! I've got some great books this way. Including A River in Darkness, a best selling book about a man's journey to escape North Korea, and a very cute children's book that my son loves because it's about a dinosaur; Don't Forget Dexter. Plus a lot more books. During Prime Day you could download all the books for free! It was awesome! Getting Kindle versions I can read on my phone makes it easy for me to carry a book to read without having to add one more thing to the already crowded diaper bag. So to summarize a free pre-release book, and discounts on other pre-release books.
Prime Reading
Prime reading functions like a digital library. You can borrow up to 10 ebooks at a time and there are no due dates. On some of these you can even borrow the Audible version of the book. AND there is a thing called WhisperSync that let's you seamlessly switch back and forth between listening to the book and reading it. I have used Prime reading when the book I want isn't available from my local library. And I love how there's no due dates so I can take my time reading. With thousands of titles available (including popular titles that can be difficult to get from the library) you're sure to find something to read. If this isn't enough there's also Kindle Unlimited which is an extra subscription service with even more books to borrow and read and no limits!
Unlimited Photo Storage
I love this because (especially since having babies) I take TONS of pictures. I have the Amazon photo app on my phone and it's set to automatically upload my pictures to Amazon. The unlimited is only for pictures so there is a limit to how many videos you can store. But it gives me peace of mind to know I'm not losing any precious moments because they're backed up on Amazon.
Audible
There are many more perks to Prime that I could include (especially if you shop at Whole Foods) but these are my favorite that I use regularly. So did you know about these perks? Are you thinking of trying Prime now that you're aware? Let us know what your favorite is in the comments below.
Guys, I am having so many technical difficulties with this post it is driving me nuts! I want to talk to you about Butter Chicken! I want to talk to you about Crock Pots! I want to tell you that my husband should become a chef! I want to tell you that my husband should become a chef and make this Butter Chicken in the Crock Pot for me for forever! He made Butter Chicken in the Crock Pot the other night and it was amazing! I don't know why it is called Butter Chicken, but that is really neither here nor there. The only struggle with a Crock Pot is you have to have the patience to let it cook. PH and I almost didn't have that patience with this Butter Chicken recipe but I am glad we did! It made me very very happy. I want to say so many other things but the technical difficulties are prohibiting me from sharing with you more Butter Chicken love! So, I am going to keep this brief and just tell you to pull out your Crock Pot (or whatever slow cooker brand you own) and make yourself this Butter Chicken and be happy. PH found the original Butter Chicken in the Crock Pot recipe here. He tweaked it by omitting the coriander pods and including a teaspoon of chili powder. Do these things, and be happy! |
