Just an Update!

Okay, the Green Frankenstein Monster Cocoa Bombs were really cute, but I didn't like the taste so much because they weren't chocolate enough! So, if you want the look, AND a chocolate taste, add more chocolate.  I have decided that I like actual chocolate for my shells rather than the Candy Melts, I am going to stick to the Candy Melts just for decorating.

Good news! The Ugly Sweater Craft Event will be back this year and we will be there for it.  Here is the link:  https://www.facebook.com/uglysweaterexpress

I hope you can all be there this year!

I am working on my new craft room as we speak! I can't wait to show you soon!

Frankenbombs!

Okay, I have heard a few comments about the fact that I haven't blogged lately.  But, once again I have a good reason! ( I think)  I started a new job this school year.  A full time job! For years I have enjoyed the flexible schedule of being a substitute teacher, loved by all, (I hope). Now that my youngest is the only one left in high school and our house is quiet and nearly an empty nest, my husband and I decided it is time I work full time in order to be better prepared for that glorious future moment of retirement. Let me tell you, it has been an adjustment for me!  There are so many projects at home that I want to tackle, but now I have so much less time.  I will have more money though, so that is a plus. I miss my friends at the school where I used to sub.  At this school, I am kind of off in a corner by myself but I have started to get to know a few of the teachers, it is just a matter of settling in, I am sure.  And, in the meantime, I have really missed doing things for my blog and blogging about them. So, today I came home and decided to do something about that!
When I was in Utah, my daughter and I discovered these great salted caramel chips at Smith's. When I got home, I looked for them and finally found them at Fry's.  They are the Kroger brand, so look for them at your local Kroger brand store. They are really delicious, you won't believe it.

I had already decided that I wanted to make some Frankenstein Monster cocoa bombs for Halloween.  I already had the green Candy Melts from Wilton.

The green made me think of apples and I thought of caramel apples, which made me think of salted caramel, so I decided salted caramel belonged in a Frankenstein's Monster head.  (Follow my logic?)  So, there are the green melts melting away.
Then, just like I explain on my tutorial here, http://threewinksdesign.weebly.com/3-winks-writes/do-you-want-to-build-a-cocoa-bomb-the-3-winks-way  I molded the green heads.  When they were hardened I filled them with the salted caramel chips and about a tsp. and a half of Nestle's Quick.
In order to give the monster hair, I melted some regular chocolate chips and dipped the top of the bombs in it.  I thought this would also give the bombs that little extra burst of chocolate.

Notice how each of them will have a little bit different hairdo! Next, I stuck on Wilton candy eyes and used a couple more salted caramel chips for the neck screws.  I glued all of this stuff on with bits of the green candy melt so it would stick fast and not be too noticeable.

For the mouth, I drizzled chocolate from a tiny fork to make a crookedy mouth line.  Once again, they all came out with a little different personality from one another.

See what I mean? Happy Cocoa Bombing!
