Do you have a big family dinner at your house for Easter? Or, do you keep things simple and avoid going to too much trouble when it comes to food on that day? Either way, a nice fluffy loaf of bread, or rolls and maybe some cinnamon rolls to eat with all of those eggs in the morning is something that is always welcome. The nice thing about baking bread is that you can bake it in advance of the day that you need it and then have it for dinner or a light meal.
Over time, on our blog, we have posted some pretty delicious recipes for bread that would be perfect for an Easter meal. On today's Friday Faves #96, we thought we would share some of our favorite loaves with you. We will supply the buttons that lead to those recipes so that you can have them at your fingertips when you are ready to start baking. You're welcome! These loaves of Easter Bread would make awesome gifts to share with friends this Easter season, too!
You can read about the story behind this bread on this post. Click the button to go straight to the recipe.
Read about the traditions behind this Portuguese Braided Bread as related by my sister-in-law on this link. I think I could also form this bread like the braided loaf and tuck the eggs in the braid. That would look pretty!
I shared this recipe a couple of years ago. It was given to me by my friend, Anita who got it from a friend of her's named Julie. It is so simple and delicious to make. I feel like many of you may have missed this amazing recipe. Check out the original post here.
I made cinnamon rolls out of part of this roll recipe that came out really good as well! www.3winksdesign.com/home/fluffy-and-delicious-potato-rollsThis post will show you how to do both. The recipe is on there, too.
These rolls were shared on a Friday Fave over 2 years ago! You can see what the other favorite things were by going to this post. Or, click the button to go to the recipe.
Now I have to decide which bread I will make for this year! Let me know if you are baking bread this Easter. We hope you might give one of our loaves a try! Happy Baking!

Madalynn had a great idea to make Disney themed dishes to use on our Family Reunion trip to Disneyland next year. She is all about the details. I had only done glass etching once before, so I was excited to try it with her. It ended up being such a fun and simple project and very inexpensive. If you know someone who loves Disney, (or any other motif), a set of dishes or dessert plates would be such a fun and appreciated gift! Here are the things that we used:
You will also need peel and stick vinyl to use to cut out your stencils. My Daughter-in-law cut ours out for us on her Silhouette cutter. She went to the Disney site and found some designs that she used with her cutter. If you have a Silhouette, you will know what I mean. If you don't have access to a vinyl cutter, here are some stencils you can purchase on Amazon. They need to be adhesive stencils.
Here are the easy steps to etch your glass items:
First, be sure that your glass surfaces are clean. You will need a cup of rinse water, the etching cream and an old paint brush. You may want to wear gloves when working with the etching cream.
Finally, when the cream is all dry, rinse it off under running water. You will want to use a scrubbing pad or rag to get all of the cream off. Then, remove the stencil and look at your amazing results!
*My first attempt has one or two mishaps. Sometimes the coverage was spotty, so I went back and tried the cream again. But, I learned that if I was patient and went over the stencil liberally with the cream and rebrushed it a couple of times and then let it completely dry, the results were much better! It really doesn't take very long for it to totally dry.
Maddy and I are so happy with the results!
What do you think?
Now I have to get busy making more! I can think of so many fun applications!

Before I introduce you to Miss Buncle's Book, Let me introduce you to its author. D.E. Stevenson, (Dorthy Emily), was a distant relative to Robert Louis Stevenson. She was a prolific writer from 1923 to 1970. Millions of copies of her books have sold in Great Britain and the US, mainly because they are engaging, humorous and downright enjoyable. I discovered Ms. Stevenson and Miss Buncle's Book on Kindle by accident as I was searching for something new to read and it was on sale with great reviews. This book has 4.06 stars on Good Reads! It did not disappoint. The book was published in 1936 and takes place in that same time period. Barbara Buncle, a single woman living in the tiny English village of Silverstream is having rough financial times. So, she tries her hand at writing a book and uses the people in her village as her inspiration. Writing under a pseudonym, Miss Buncle is surprised when her book is a smash hit, but her town begins to recognize themselves in it. Now, as she writes a sequel, she tries to hide her identity as the author of the book from her neighbors. Her book brings a lot of unexpected surprises into Miss Buncle's life. The story is funny, original and keeps you turning the pages to find out what will happen next! I really can't believe this book hasn't been made into a movie because it would be a great one! If you are looking for a great, light but engaging read for the Spring, I highly recommend Miss Buncle's Book! Also, there are 3 more books in Miss Buncle's story that are worth the read, but I have to say that this first one in the series is my favorite The other books in the series are:
Good morning dear readers! How was your weekend? Mine was really good! Which was nice because last week was a rough week for me. Maybe I'll tell you about it another time.
After a rough week, it's good to have a good weekend. We went hiking together as a family on Saturday and it was gorgeous and a lot of fun, and good to get out and get those muscles working! Sunday after church we decided it was high time we go meet our neighbors who moved in across the street about five months ago. I know I know. We're slow. They were friendly and invited us in for a visit which was really nice except my daughter fell and bit her lip and started bleeding. The hazards of toddlerhood. That was the only rough park of the weekend, my poor baby boo getting injured because she tried to stand on a ball. After we got her home and cleaned up, cheered up, and asleep, I got started on dinner. This tasty dinner, which was actually pretty quick to make. I am a fan of Thai food, and chicken is pretty much my staple meat. I am always trying to find recipes that'll force my husband to eat more vegetables. So this Thai Chicken peanut sauce and veggies was the perfect solution. The veggies are all in with the meat and the sauce, there is no escaping them! This was a pretty healthy, yet still filling meal. You could make it a little lighter by using lite coconut milk if you want. I won't stop you. I didn't do it, and PH said the peanut sauce was pretty thick, but it was flavorful! So, go ahead and enjoy this Thai Chicken Peanut Sauce and Veggies. Your mouth will thank you, and if you had a rough week, this will probably make the new one start off better. |
