I wrote this post in 2018 after my granddaughter was born. Now she is almost 4 and there have been 2 more grandchildren born. Unfortunately, those 2 grandchildren were only able to be with us on this earth for a very short time. While they were here, I fell deeply in love with them, as I have each of my grandchildren. Being separated from them for a time has been so difficult and watching my daughter and her family mourn their loss makes it even harder. Thankfully, because of the hope we have in Jesus Christ, we know that our family is eternal and that He can heal our hearts and that we will one day all be together again. As a grandmother, I look so forward to having all of my grandchildren around me and on my lap once again. I love them all so much and I miss them when we are apart. Here is the post expressing some of the things that I adore about being a grandma. At the end, I will add photos of numbers 11 and 12, Elodie and Henry. I mentioned on a post earlier this week that I became a grandmother for the 10th time! That is her right there, beautiful little Amelia! Since the 9th of September is Grandparent's Day, I thought today's Friday Faves should have a special twist in honor of that and that I will share what I love about being a grandmother. If you are a grandmother, be sure to share what you love about it in the comments below. I also got some great ideas from some other grandmas I know! As you read, I will show you photos of my beautiful grandchildren!
"There is nothing like a grandchild to put a smile on your face, a lump in your throat and a warm feeling in your heart."
"Being a parent is the most important job in the world. Being a grandparent is the most fun!"
"Some of our greatest blessings call us Grandma and Grandpa." "Grandchildren are like snowflakes, each one is beautifully unique." My family is my treasure and these grandchildren are so precious to me. My husband and I are so blessed with this family of ours! Be sure to tell the grandparents in your life what a blessing they are to you and enjoy those grandchildren of your own! They get big so fast!

In 2020, our family started the tradition of having a family reunion every 2 years. It’s a great excuse for us to spend some time together, and a great way for all the grandkids to get to know their cousins that they don’t get to see very often.
If you’ve ever tried to plan an outing for a large group of people, you know how difficult, time consuming, and expensive it can be. I hope that by sharing our experiences and ideas, you can mitigate some of that on your end, and enjoy some time together as a family up in Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming! A little over a week has gone by since we came home from our wonderful family reunion in Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming! Maddy is going to tell you all about it in a later post. But, since we have been focusing this summer on cooking with kids, I wanted to let you know that our cooking fun continued while we were in the beautiful cabin that we stayed in. As with any vacation, one of the highlights was the great food that we ate! We arrived at the cabin on Father's Day, which also happened to be my husband's birthday. We celebrated that evening with a cake made by my granddaughter, Shyanne. Actually, to feed all of us, she made 2 cakes! When it came to frosting, we had to improvise because we only had enough powdered sugar for one cake, but thankfully some chocolates that I happened to bring along came in handy! We just melted them on top and spread them like a frosting! One of the best things about cooking with my grandkids is the times that we laugh and talk and get to know each other. I love watching my grandchildren interacting with their cousins and develop good relationships. Since one of the things I did with my grandsons was make cookies from a store bought tub of cookie dough, it was pretty simple and there wasn't measuring or math involved, except that I did explain rows and columns to them as we scooped the dough on to the cookie sheet. I made a little video, (very amateur) of a couple of our cooking moments that we captured. These show cousins working together and Aunt Maddy with nephew, Kyle, working together. I hope you enjoy it and that it inspires you to make some cooking memories with your kids and grandchildren. Past Cooking Videos:

Thank you for your support. A week ago, my husband and I went up to spend some time with some of our grandchildren. Since we have decided to do a weekly "Cooking with Kids" post through the summer, I thought this would be a perfect time to cook with these younger kids and have my husband video the event. It was a blast! Unfortunately, the camera stopped working correctly for my husband as he filmed. Mainly user error, but at any rate, we didn't get the entire process on film. But, my grandchildren are so cute that I had to put together this little video to show you how much fun it is to cook with kids. Teaching kids to cook is a self esteem builder, it is a great skill for them to learn, it is math practice, it gives them confidence, it is science, the list goes on. Most of all, I just love the times I spent cooking with my own children and now my grandchildren. Speaking of confidence, my two oldest granddaughters are gaining so much confidence when it comes to baking that they are inventing their own recipes! You will remember Jayda who taught you how to make Brookies on this post. She and her older sister called me the other day to show me that they had created their own ginger cookie/cake concoction and they were chowing down on it sitting on the floor of their bedroom as they talked about boys! LOL It made me happy to see two sisters getting along and having fun together baking and talking. We all know that making food together builds ties. I hope that you are making cooking and baking memories with your kids and/or grandkids! We will have more videos and recipes to inspire you as the summer progresses!
