Happy Star Wars Day!
May 4th has long been known as Star Wars Day, a day to celebrate everything Star Wars. Some even call the week of May 4th Star Wars Week, allowing the festivities to last much longer. Now, Star Wars is popular in our family, but every year May 4th just seems to sneak up on me. Maybe it's because I can't believe it's May already when I feel like it's still January, but I've never actually celebrated it despite loving Star Wars so much. This year I am prepared, though, and I wanted to share some ways you can celebrate Star Wars Day, or Star Wars Week, even if you're as unprepared as I usually am.

You may know already, but March is Women's History Month, so we couldn't let it pass without celebrating! We're doing this by putting a new item in our shop on Etsy! Women's History Coloring PagesI'm so excited to share these coloring pages with you. I have been working on them since December or January and learning about the 9 women (it was hard to narrow down!) we chose was so inspiring and interesting. And I have to say at times their stories made me so sad too (especially Sacagawea's!). The women we chose for this pack were:
It was so hard narrowing down our list of women who have inspired us throughout history to be better versions of ourselves. But I think our little pack is a great start! Each coloring page includes an image of the woman, their name, a quote from them (except Sacagawea) and a short biography about them. The poster is easily printed at home as it's formatted to be printed at 8.5"x11". They're digital downloads so as soon as you purchase the poster pack they're available to you! Click the button below to take you to our Etsy page so you can buy your own set! I'm so excited to use these to teach my kids about these incredible women. Not just in March, but throughout the whole year. I know my kids are excited too because when I printed off my test copies they wanted to color them right away. And I just got them Crayola Colors of the World pencils and markers that include 24 different shades for coloring skin. This makes even me excite to color the pages too!
I hope you can enjoy these posters with your family and friends too! Who are some more women in history that you love learning about (and would like a poster of)?

That's right we're bringing back the podcast! We're so excited to be doing this again and chatting about our favorite movie adaptations of some of our favorite books!
Since it's Women's History Month we decided to start with a work of literature by one of the most famous women in literary history, Jane Austen! We chose to do a comparison of Jane's Emma and Amy Heckerling's "Clueless." That's right, if you didn't know "Clueless" is actually a modern day retelling of Ms Austen's Emma. And we love it. So listen in as Lindsey and I discuss how "Clueless" aligns with Emma and why we think books are made into movies in the first place. If you'd rather read our discussion I'll post the transcription below!

Since 80% of the United States is struggling with freezing weather, warming up with a Hot Cocoa Bomb sounds like a great idea! Then, while you are at it, liven things up a bit by doing the Tim Tam Slam!
Have you ever had or heard of Tim Tams? They are a chocolate biscuit sandwiched with chocolate cream and covered with chocolate. They are a product of Australia and they are named after a winning Kentucky Derby Horse from 1958! Not only are Tim Tams known for their unique texture and flavor, they are also known for the Tim Tam Slam, which the cookie company, Arnott's, developed and promoted themselves since 2002. My SIL, Adrian, introduced our family to this phenom a couple of years ago and it is so much fun, not to mention delicious! To show you how it is done, Alicia and Adrian graciously made a video to demonstrate it for you! Please like and share our videos! You will really be helping us out!
Target used to be the place that we could get Tim Tams, but I don't know if it is because of the pandemic or what, but they don't have them now and neither does Walmart. But, I did find big family sized packages at Cost Plus World Market! Or, you can order them on Amazon. I hope you can get hold of them, because we would love to challenge you to try the Tim Tam Slam and tell us what you think!
Doing the Tim Tam Slam with a Hot Cocoa Bomb is like a party in a mug!
So, here are the steps to follow once again:
Next, demonstrate how to suck up the hot cocoa and slam the Tim Tam into your mouth! Then, let everyone start to give it a try!
It is amazing how fast the biscuit gets soft when the cocoa hits it! It goes from being crunchy to a fudgy, deliciousness. You need to hurry and slam it into your mouth before it falls apart! You are going to love it. The funny thing is this only seems to work with Tim Tams. There is just something about them that lends them to The Slam! I've tried it with a variety of other cookies without success. Let us know if you give the Tim Tam Slam a try, (especially if you do it with a Hot Cocoa Bomb.) Did your family have fun with it?
