Awesome and Easy St. Patrick's Day Party and Date Ideas!

2/25/2017

So, St Patrick’s Day is coming up, but you don’t want to be drowned in green. That’s how I feel anyways. (My brother and sister-in-law would probably love it though because they love green). It’s not that I hate green there’s just so many other things to love about St Patrick’s Day.  It’s one of my favorite holidays and I’ve come up with some fun ways to celebrate the day that not only involve green but all the colors of the rainbow as well!

Food:

Chips and Guacamole- Guacamole is an obvious choice because it’s green. But I think other
dips would be great too.

Pots of Gold- Using Rice Krispies you make the “Treats’ (the recipe is on the box or the
website). Mold the mixture into a cup shape inside of a muffin pan. Make sure to
butter the muffin cups first so they will come out easier. While those are cooling, you can use this cool Wilton spray in gold to spray mini Oreos to be the gold coins. It works with all Oreos, but I think it looks best on the Golden Oreos. I couldn’t taste any difference with the spray on the cookies. Once the “pots” are hardened you can take them out of the pan and fill them with the “gold.”

Limeade- I just got limeade from concentrate I put it in the blender with some water and
frozen strawberries. A lime wedge at the top of your glass will make a great festive
drink!

My Mom made these as a version of the Pot Of Gold treats using See's Candy gold coins. They look GREAT!
Decorations:

Owl Window Stickers- I found these cute window stickers of St Patrick’s Day Owls so of
course I had to get them to decorate. And my mom loves them too!  I can't find them on the Dollar Tree website anymore, so you may have to check and see if they are in the store. But, while we are looking at owls, look at these cute garden stones Dollar Tree has! You can order them by clicking on the picture!
Rainbow Beaded Door Curtain- I can’t stand walking through these things on doors,
but I was thinking of using it as a backdrop for a photo booth studio (like I suggested
in my last party idea).

Green table décor and dishes.

Music :
Flogging Molly- The greatest Irish Rock Band ever. They used to do a St Patrick’s Day
tour that ended in Phoenix and it was my first concert. I love the music and the
variety of instruments they use. It wouldn’t be a St Patrick’s Day without Flogging
Molly.

Activities:

Darby O’Gill and the Little People- One of the best movies ever and an old family favorite. A
young Sean Connery is featured in this movie and he sings (although I’m not actually
sure he’s the one singing). It includes leprechauns, jig dancing and everything that a
St Patrick’s Day should include.

Rainbow Treasure Hunt- Using rainbow yarn (Like this Red Heart “Mexicana”) you create a
crazy path through your yard or house. Have multiple paths to allow them to
intersect. The idea is people must follow the yarn to the end of the “Rainbow” to get
their “Pot of Gold.” The Pot of Gold can be any prize you wish.  For my friends and I
it would probably be a pack of Oreos!

Photobooth- Using the foil rainbow curtain as a backdrop and leprechaun props. (Like
these cute green hats I found at Dollar Tree) People can take fun pictures to
remember your fun party! Have them use a hashtag like “#SmithsStPattysDay17” to tag their pictures on Instagram, Twitter and now even Facebook uses hashtags!  Oriental Trading also has some really fun props!  If you register on their site, they often send you codes for free shipping! Click on the pictures to order them!

Additional Ideas:

For a date- Cozy up with your sweetheart watching “Darby O’Gill and the Little People”, you can stream it on Amazon! You can eat chips and dip and mint Oreos. A nice stay-in date.

For Kids- There’s not much I would change except maybe changing out the music. Flogging
Molly is a bit of an adult band.

Hope you guys can use some of these ideas to make your St Patrick’s Day fun! Let us know if you do. Or if you have any fun ideas to include in the celebration.

I never thought of using Golden Oreos instead of gold coins! (I have a 4 year old who has a hard time unwrapping candy and gets so impatient, so this would be great for him! Fun food craft! Thanks for sharing at My Busy Beehives #BEEPARTY!
