There may be activity ones, chocolate ones, ones with toys or verses, ornaments... There are so many out there! Even though I don't have young children at home anymore, I still love looking at all of the choices each year and see what someone else has come up with. Every year for the last few years we have put up our favorites for you to see and perhaps get for your own family. Now is the time to start deciding because December 1st will get here pretty quickly! My personal favorite advent calendars are the ones that remember the reason we celebrate, so I am beginning with the Religious Advent Calendars: This Christ Centered Advent Ornament set is reasonable priced and comes with a booklet that relates a story of why each ornament goes on the day that it does. This would be a lovely evening activity to do with children as they add ornaments about the Savior to the Christmas Tree. This Nativity Advent set is perfect for kids to be able to retell the Christmas Story again and again. Once again, a great price with lots of figures. I love, love, love these little advent drawers that you can fill with treats or toys or ornaments or whatever you want! The adorable nativity at the top of this one makes it even better! There are quite a few choices of these. This one is also beautiful! This simple farmhouse style calendar has the silhouette of the Nativity and simply has a wreath that gets moved along each day. So pretty! Of course, we still make room for the fun of Santa and the other things that are Christmas traditions. There are a lot of calendars representing that side of Christmas. Santa Style Calendars: If you have craft lovers at your house, this diamond art keychain advent will be perfect. They are just the right size to do in a day and can be key chains or ornaments! Dollar Tree has some cute advent calendars that you can hang up and fill with your own treats! They are at a great price, too! If you order them online, you have to order 36, but instore they are the usual $1.25! I couldn't resist this musical advent calendar, (made in Germany where were lived years ago), and it has 24 different vinyls that you play on this mini gramophone! The reviews say that most of the carols are familiar but some are lovely German tunes. I just have to say, I want it! If you are like I am and have grandchildren who have special interests and love certain things, then it is fun to find the perfect advent calendar just for them! Advent Calendars for Special Interests: I have a couple of grandsons who love Pokémon and there are a few choices of advent calendars to make them happy. I know that they would love all of those little figures that come in the calendar. Another grandson loves rocks and gems. This National Geographic Calendar would be great for him and a good stem activity as well! I also can't forget that I have granddogs! This advent calendar full of treats for them will also be fun for the kids to open and give to their lovable pets! That is a pretty big selection, and I know that there are plenty more out there. I hope I've given you some ideas and that you are able to add some advent fun to the holiday season! Past advent calendar ideas are posted below, including some DIY ones!
